Disparity

In the course of my work I received some promotional material from Learndirect the government initiative to raise adult literacy and numeracy skills. The client information was in the form of scratch cards – presumably trying to tap into the section of society that tries to escape by buying lottery instant win cards, the latest of which offers the prize of a grand a week for a year; a huge amount in comparison to a JSA entitlement of around £50 per week but somewhat measly considering that “Excluding gains from share options and other incentive plans, a chief executive's average basic pay is now just under £600,000.” - £11,500 a week for life.
